Register now for second Lead Your Way Conference

The Crown Ward Education Championship Team invites youth ages 14-18+ to a half-day conference on Crown Ward opportunities after high school, including education, employment, financial aid, housing and more.

When: Thursday October 25 from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. (closing with a youth dance)

“Crown Wards and former Crown Wards face challenges that impact the success of their pursuit of post-secondary education,” says Geoff Katumba, Youth Success Coordinator, Peel Children's Aid. “This conference is meant to help youth make connections and motivate and energize youth to plan for a successful future.”
 
Guest Speaker Marc Anthony Garrett a former youth in care and motivational speaker will present and inspire youth and a.k.a Subliminal will perform. A youth dance will provide a fun end to the conference. 
 
Youth will leave the conference with information on:

• Housing and Rights as a Tenant
• OSAP and Financial Support
• Post-Secondary Opportunities
• Apprenticeships and OYAP
• Employment Opportunities and Interviews
• Future life planning
 
And will also:
• Receive community hours towards their high school diploma for participating
• Receive cool giveaways and an opportunity to win a Mac Book Pro or IPad plus more fantastic prizes

Transportation for youth will be provided. Buses will pick up youth at 9:45 a.m. at the following locations: Brampton – Shoppers World (Hwy 10 and Steeles) (next to the bus terminal) and Mississauga – Sheridan College at Square One.
 
The Crown Ward Education Championship Team (CWECT) is an organization founded by the Ministry of Training for College and University (MTCU) to ensure all youths under the Crown Ward Act have an equal opportunity to pursue a post-secondary education. MTCU also helps with peer mentoring, career advisement, and financial aid. By doing so, MTCU hopes to provide youth with the essential resources needed to contribute to a successful future.
